Northumberland is a fast-growing county approximately 80 km east of the GTA, next to Durham and Clarington regions. Its population is more than 85,000; the largest municipality in the county, Cobourg, has a population of over 25,000 and is located right on highway 401.

There are close to 100 Muslim families currently residing in Northumberland County, and that number is quickly growing. Many Muslim families visit the county as a tourist destination during the summer, however the lack of a Masjid in the area leaves families with no place to perform their religious duties.

Since 2021, the Muslim Community of Northumberland (MCN) has been undertaking a project to build the first Masjid in the county. We are in need of financial support to assist in funding this project and to complete our renovation of the Masjid space Insha’Allah.

The Masjid will serve as a place for the community to pray, gather, and observe events such as Ramadan weekly iftars. It will also help to solidify the presence of our Muslim community throughout the county.
